Programme Manager (Rights & Participation)
Thailand/Burma programme
VSO is looking for an experienced development manager with a background in human rights to lead its Rights & Participation programme and to work as part of the programme team to adapt the programme in line with VSO’s new strategy.
The overall goal of the Rights & Participation programme is to build the capacity of Human Rights Defender Organisations (HRDOs), including women and youth groups, on the Thailand/Burma border in order to bring about an improvement in the human rights situation in Burma.
The successful candidate will have:
• Experience of working on human rights issues
• Worked for at least 2 years in a development or human rights organization
• Open to change and able to develop work in new directions
• Experience of working on or supporting advocacy campaigns
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse groups of people
• Experience of team management
• Experience of budget development and management, including managing externally funded projects.
• Fluency in spoken and written English and be able to speak Thai and/or Burmese
